To him who left his throne
(Thomas Kelly/Johannes Thomas Rüegg)

To him who left his throne.

"And he came and took the book out of the right hand
of him that sat upon the throne." (Revelation 5,7)

1. To him who left his throne,
  and dwelt with man below;
to him who stood alone,
  and fought the mighty foe;
to David's Son and Lord,
  who reigns in earth and heav'n;
to him, th' incarnate Word,
  eternal praise be giv'n. PDF - Midi

2. He worthy is alone,
  to take the awful book
from him who fills the throne,
  or on its page to look.
'Tis he who breaks the seals,
  unfolds the sacred roll;
and what lay hid reveals,
  the Lamb, he does the whole.

3. Of him, then, let us sing;
  of him who worthy is;
our Saviour and our King,
  eternal praise be his.
He shed his precious blood;
  he suffered death for us;
who else, or would, or could
  have saved a people thus?

Thomas Kelly, Hymns on various passages of Scripture, ca. 1853, Hymn 235.
