Christ My Song - 1232
We sing with joy today
(Thomas Kelly/Johannes Thomas Rüegg)
We sing with joy today.
"He is not here, but is risen." (Luke 24,6)
1. We sing with joy today:
the day the Saviour rose.
"The Lord is risen indeed," we say,
that friends may hear, and foes. PDF - Midi
2. His friends have joy indeed,
that no man takes away.
'Tis joy to see the surety freed,
then hail the happy day.
3. The awful debt is paid;
the debt to justice due:
atonement ample has been made
for you, ye saints, for you.
4. Then let his people sing:
the people of the Lord,
and raise, in honour of their King,
a psalm, in full accord.
5. Let praise to him be giv'n,
who liveth and was dead;
the Lord of earth, the Lord of heav'n,
let glory wreathe his head.
6. His precious blood it is
that makes our garments white;
the grace by which we live is his,
and his our saving light.
7. His people well may sing,
and hail with joy the day
when he will come, the Lord their King,
and bear them hence away;
8. and take them to their home,
their destined place of rest,
where aught that harms can never come,
where all are fully blessed.
Thomas Kelly, Hymns on various passages of Scripture, ca. 1853, Hymn 461.
