Blessed be the Lord for ever!
(Thomas Kelly/Johannes Thomas Rüegg)

Blessed be the Lord for ever!

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?"
(Romans 8,35)

1. Blessed be the Lord for ever!
  blessed be his glorious name;
nothing from his love shall sever
  him he owns.   Nor sword, nor flame,
    nor life, nor death, nor that which is,
    nor that to come; these all are his. PDF - Midi

2. Blessed be the Lord for ever!
  "full of grace and truth" is he;
let us cleave to him, and never
  shrink from duty, though it be
    to nature hard, and full of pain,
    the Lord his people will sustain.

3. Blessed be the Lord for ever!
  he has raised us from the pit
where we lay, without endeavour
  to relieve ourselves, and fit
    for ruin.   This was love, indeed;
    relief it was in time of need.

4. Blessed be the Lord for ever!
  what his love has here begun,
he will perfect.   He will never
  leave his work in part undone.
    The Lord will keep us by his pow'r,
    will keep us to the final hour.

5. Then his work will be completed,
  when the people of his love
(conflicts past, and foes defeated)
  shall obtain their place above.
    Until it comes, O keep us, Lord;
    thine help in time of need afford.

Thomas Kelly, Hymns on various passages of Scripture, ca. 1853, Hymn 232.
