Christ My Song - 2080
Other Name than my dear Lord's - His Name
(John S. B. Monsell/Johannes Thomas Rüegg)
His Name.
"O praise the Lord, for the Lord is gracious:
O sing praises unto his Name, for it is lovely." (Psalm 135,3)
1. Other Name than my dear Lord's
never to my heart affords
equal influence to move
its deep springs of joy and love. PDF - Midi
2. Loving hearts and sunny eyes
gladden all that round me lies,
yet they all could never be
what my God has been to me.
3. He from youth has been my guide,
he to hoar hairs will provide,
every light and every shade
on my path his Presence made.
4. He hath been my cloud by day,
soft'ning pleasure's noontide ray;
and amid the shades of night,
he hath been my guiding light.
5. He hath been my joy in woe,
cheered my heart when it was low,
and, with warnings softly sad,
calmed my heart when it was glad.
6. Change or chance could ne'er befall,
but he proved mine all in all;
all he asks in answer is,
that I should be wholly his.
7. O that I may ever prove
by a life of earnest love,
how, by right of grace divine,
I am his, and he is mine.
John S. B. Monsell, Hymns of Love and Praise, 1877, 107-108.
