Christ My Song - 1487
Led by a Father's gracious hand - The good treasure
(Carl Johann Philipp Spitta/Richard Massie/
Johannes Thomas Rüegg)
The good treasure.
1. Led by a Father's gracious hand,
we have each other found;
he hath the band, the loving band,
which binds us closely, bound.
All that the grace of God made thee,
his goodness hath bestowed on me;
all that he gave thee serves to shed
new blessings on my favoured head. PDF - Midi
2. In silent praise to God above
my grateful heart I lift,
and thank him that I have thy love,
O thou, his choicest gift!
From day to day, and year to year,
experience makes this truth more clear,
that he a precious thing hath found,
to whom a faithful heart is bound.
3. A pious heart, which thou hast brought,
O God, to trust in thee ;
a loving heart, which thou hast taught
to love unchangeably;
a heart on which we may depend,
in weal and woe, till life shall end;
a heart which is fast linked to ours
by love most strong in darkest hours.
4. Let him then bless thee, who thro' thee
hath me so richly blessed;
may blessings both on thee and me,
whate'er befall us, rest!
In faith, and hope, and love, both one,
may we our course together run;
and when our life on earth is o'er,
live with the Lord for evermore.
Richard Massie, Lyra Domestica II, 1864, 39-40.
